I liked the stories at the start about the "doctor" and how the account had been preserved and not so preserved over time.  I like how he went out by himself when he was young and attempted to make it nd the luck he got and the wisdom he could attain at such a young age.  This book was a work of somebody who gave everything for his country and he still echos with us today.
Historians have used the term Gilded Age for the period right after the Civil War and on because it is clear that there was a lot of money in those days.  During this time there was rampant paying people off just so you could get a better part in politics most politicians were very rich and used their position to gain more and more wealth. This was also when there was an economic boom things started ramping up in factories and everywhere but especially in America because it had so many untamed resources at the time.  the use of this term guilded age was a very good and useful term to describe what was happening at the controversial but very important economic time.  The guided age will go down in history as extremely important and it shows what we should not be doing when we become politicians.
There are two points that I must go over that led to the industrial rev First the demand the demand of products was going up. Also boosting that was the supply there was a ton of supplies from America tons and tons of raw materials could be converted into things. Lastly technology had gotten to the point where these massive buildings could be raised and hundreds of workers employed as well as the railroad that grew massive during this time time was being saved therefore giving more time to work.
