Laffite was in prison and in sad condition physically and mentally.  So he decided to do something about it he got under his metal bed and started lifting it over his head again and again he sweated and sweated and groaned but he did it. After a while of doing this every day the war with England wasn't going very well so the prisoners were told to make saddles sowing part of the saddles that were being made and one-day Laffite was able to steal a file by hiding it in his hair because they had not cut him it stayed pretty long.
Sermon Sunday I am going to talk about the evening service it was about some words in the Articles of confession I forgot the name but this article is basically the entirety of what a Christian believes it goes over Christ's life and we are at a phrase that says and he is now sitting at Gods right hand now I would like to say when someone is generally sitting that is a picture of he is done with his work he is resting now that is kind of what is happening here just Jesus is actually going to have to get up off that throne at the end of days.
Persia, an ancient Greek philosopher, looked at the letter. It always took him a while to figure out which words were which. He assumed the letter he was holding was a report on the colonnades being made in a temple.  I have a feeling this would have happened all the time in ancient times when there wasn't punctuation or periods or even spaces in between lines.  Imagine you could be reading a story back then and getting everything completely wrong. Think of a baker that had gotten an order for three loaves of bread. The baker could have gotten everything wrong or made something completely different. Imagine if someone wrote a check (or bill of sale) to someone else. The person receiving the check (or bill of sale) could get the amounts wrong. Punctuation is so important in terms of listing things off or pausing for effect. Think about how strange it would be to convey emotions through a string of words all in a line without break. We have periods and other punctuation to add p...
My first person I want to talk about is Ulysses s grant. He always was someone that seemed could be my role model. Ulysses s grant was born in Ohio and had this skill with horses. He was admitted to west point and graduated 21st class. He got married and had four children after that he resigned from the army. They lived in poverty for a few years. Shortly after the Civil war started he joined the army. After being in the army for a while he rose to prominence winning some early victories in the Western theater. In 1863 he he was the one who lead the Vicksburg campaign. When Ulysses joined the army his commanders put him in charge of a very unruly regiment. He whipped them into one of the best regiments in the area. He was promoted to brigadier general.  After that he sought to capture the Mississippi river. In February 1862 he took fort Henry and sought to capture fort Donelson His terms were "No terms but unconditional and immediate surrender can be accepted". The fort surre...
Lafitte fought but the fight was basically over before it began there was no way the small amount of men and weapons on board could overpower the massive warship. The enemy ship hove to and boarded and Lafitte and his men were captured after a brief struggle. After that Lafitte was sent to a prison fay in day out all he got was a little bit of food. One day he was called by the rather cruel master of the prison. He talked with him about coming over to the English side of the war but Lafitte would not so the prison master whipped him and put him back into his cell.
The Reconstruction happened after the civil war and it was aimed at economic things getting underway and getting more rights for African Americans because they could now vote around 1865 to 1877. People believed the reconustroction to be a total failure it didnt really fo what it wanted to do. I am going to go into the people that were part of the reconstruction what worked and what didnt and the different political groups jockeying for power back then. The south was crippled from the war and the blacks still didnt really have anywhere to go because they were still discriminated against.
Sermon Sunday was on Annina and Saphirra and the sin they did they lied lying is probably one of the sins God hates the most because if you have read that certain passage God killed bolt Ananias and sapphire instantly Peter said something and the fell down and breathed there last right then and there. God hates lying and if you dont repent you will go to hell.
laffite won the duel but now they had an issue the man he killed he technically was not allowed to duel so they had to hide him in a box. They brought him to the ship and laffite decided he would go with them. He stayed on the ship sailing around until they could find a target that they were able to defeat.
The two men decided to duel in a courtyard the partially drunk man was sure he was going  to win because he was a very good hand with a sword but the man named laffite and the hero of the story stayed calm. They squared off the man that came from the ship and was dueling sprang forward with a quick thrust hoping to end the man quickly laffite parrid and this went on and on for quit a while. Bolth men were breathing in the night air at a good pace at the end laffite won with a clever trick of disarming the man and killing him after that.
A man was at the dock of a french port and was watching the ships come and go he was watching one ship in particular a lean low fast looking vessel that looked as if it was piloted by very skilled sailors he wanted to get on this ship and be an officer but he would need to talk to the people there first. as the men cam to shore they walked to a place where they could eat and they sat down and ate one of the men who had a little to much wine was  talking ill about napoleon who was there leader at the time. The man could not have this so he stood up and asked the man from the ship to refute wat he had said about npaleon.
For my sermon Sunday we are going to talk about my dads morning service he preached on acts four i am pretty sure and it was when peter and john went before the pharisees and the Sadducee. The pharisees and the Sadducee had issues with the peter and john because they believed in things they could only see and touch. So right here in front of them is a miracle and at the same time they preach the Resurrection of Jesus.
